HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! Could this be where artist Andres Serrano (lambasted by members of the US Senate) got the idea for “Piss Christ,” his notorious 1989 sculpture of a crucifix submerged in urine & cow’s blood? When a pregnant nun fesses up who the daddy is she’s beaten & force-fed a bucket of salt water so that if she urinates over an image of Christ it means she’s a witch! Not only does a torrential flood of pee coat the icon but drooling droplets of slo-mo crimson from internal bleeding poetically splash & mingle in what has to be one of the most sacrilegious images in cinematic history! The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2005 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “‘Piss Christ’ Precursor!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! Pay no mind to that vibrator-shaped lighthouse. What do you want? I had to sandwich it between so much text I couldn’t help slimming it just so! A jazz pianist faces blackmail from the “second rate singer” he was dating after dumping her for his rich fiancée, so he lets her fall to her death when she accidentally stumbles thru an abandoned lighthouse railing! As payback she haunts the hell outta his tell-tale heart for the rest of the film trying to make him crack! Off kilter surrealism of special effects gets downright David Lynchian! The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2011 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “Misgive Up The Ghost!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! Actual Quote: “You must know evil in order to find it!” Director Jesús (Sadomania) Franco plays a defrocked priest who writes S&M stories for a sleazeball smut rag & starts stalking employees, following them to the dungeon they run where they bilk rich pervs for cash by performing fake black masses featuring naked girls torturing each other! An obvious quickie cash-in on The Exorcist (1973), Franco opts for bondage, humiliation, & misguided religious zeal rather than puking pea soup & poltergeists! The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2007 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “Avenging Angel of Smut!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. Only 100 measly bucks for original background art from an animated film I made about unspeakable events that take place on a bed! The short premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival in 2006 & doubled as an unairable “music video” for a song by The American Devices that I sang & played guitar on. Most of the animation was actually done in the late 80’s so it’s very “of its era.” By the early 90’s I was able to do a B&W line-test for it using a school’s 16MM Oxberry Camera AKA torture device. Budget restrictions prevented me from synching it to the music & completing it in color (back then you had to do that with paint on expensive sheets of acetate). I managed to get it finished digitally by the early 2000’s when that finally became affordable. More deets below or contact me for info. You can watch the whole music video by clicking on the frame-grab with the soldiers below or HERE. (To see BG image below full-sized, click on it to open in a new window & use the magnify function).

DECENSORTIZED

Iddy biddy power lovin’ liberator,
Doing you & me a favor,
In this institute of harm avoidance,
Hurting’s just an intuitive annoyance,
Not always mutually synchronized,
And so we ask not for confessions,
Of any personal recessions,
Beneficial or bourgeois,
But that we all be equalized,
“Liberation.” Liberate me!
And at your disposal are,
Sensations of generic stock penetrations,
Groping at some sort of duty memory,
Instead keep on sustaining cum-pensation,
Go & redefine some dead-ication,
And all the while do not prolong,
Puberty so free & strong,
“Liberation.” Liberate me!
Neuter-lize my cerebellum,
With your quality truth serum,
Decensortized!
And so this will provide us less
Much less, yeah,
Newfangled morals to confess,
Much less, yeah,
Not always mutually synchronized,
Why second guess & go defend what’s best unseen,
Be more than willing make room for what’s obscene.
“Liberation.” Liberation!

HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! What better way to spruce up a marriage than by getting terrorized by backwoods psychos? Bickering marrieds finalizing their divorce take a shortcut off the interstate & get lost in the boonies! Tack on a vague back-story about a perished child of theirs & a wife dozy on Zoloft & Prozac dreaming hubby’s trying to kill her to give them some weight & we’re off to the races! The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2007 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “Pretty Vacant!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. I used to love making flipbooks in the late-70’s/early-80’s. Movie equipment & film stock was so expensive it was out of the question, so flipbooks were actually the cheapest way to make cartoons. Mine were usually done with close to a hundred hand-drawn 1.5 inch square images stacked on 3 inch card stock, then wrapped in tape on the side they’re supposed to be held. I called this one GREY BRAINS.

HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone & Eric Von Zipper! Fetish alert! How’s THIS for the ultimate form of nudity? The “ghost” in “Ghost in the Invisible Bikini” is literally just that; a sexy girl whose bikini is see-through, as in; you can SEE RIGHT THROUGH her bikini out her body like a nuclear blast thermal radiation tan line! If YOU don’t wear this as your costume this Halloween, I WILL! With healthy messages like you shouldn’t wear glasses but you should wear a bikini to seduce yer guy! Incessant unfunny slapstick gags & cartoon sound FX diffuse crooked murderous goings on but unresolved maliciousness leaves a peculiar icky aftertaste, a true testament to the kinda brainless escapism that was becoming increasingly outta synch with the temperament of the times! The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2007 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “Now THAT’S what I call a Halloween costume!!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. I did comics for Montreal’s Vice Magazine from 1994 to 2000. It started off as the surrealistic horror/screwball adventures of “Rodney Chomp” & morphed into autobiographical “80’s Diaries” where I transcribed my own diary entries from the 1980’s & embellished them with brand new cartoon depictions. When they fucked off to the states & dumped me, they stole the title & gave it to someone else to continue as a serialized text column. Original art for sale @ 100 bucks. HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! After an hour’s worth of  bad omens, ponderous expository reminiscences, & needless fleshing out of secondary characters destined for unresolved eradication, BOOGEYMAN momentarily kicks into a promising MULHOLLAND DRIVE (2001) kinda space-time continuum/warp once the hero discovers he can travel thru measures of temporal/spatial boundaries from one bogeyman gateway to another (dark closets, under beds, etc…). But it’s short-lived so the film can explode into the requisite plethora of dizzying hallucinations, CGI morphing, trendy undercranking, overcranking, jump-cuts, swish-pans, & jerky handheld camera to diffuse plot sloppiness. The heading for this Motion Picture Purgatory which originally appeared in a 2005 issue of The Montreal Mirror was “Skeletors™ in the Closet!” As always; the original art’s for sale @ 100 bucks. HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN! Fancy FX filler camera moves constantly performing colonoscopies in & outta all manner of flesh-holes, attempting to enhance the squirm factor, come across more like the throbbing kaleidoscopic contents of a gynecologist’s speculum in this generic gory vehicle for hulking villainous wrestling superstar Kane, produced for him by “World Wrestling Entertainment” & helmed by director-for-hire Greg Dark (XXX New Wave Hookers, & Devil in Miss Jones 4)!
