MAN & HIS WORLD © 2007 by Rob Labelle (art by Rick Trembles)
SLIDE 13
I'm not alone here. Dotted amidst the overgrown grass & fallen cement shapes & sculptures, are other men. Each of them solitary, they lie about like sunbathers, but I know they come here for a different reason. They are all about the same age as me; all had their sexual awakening during Expo. They are drawn here as if to a spawning ground, lying, as if listening for something of themselves that drained into the ground here all those years ago. Sometimes they make furtive encounters with each other behind bushes or ruined pavilions, but mostly they pose separately, preferring to remain as symbols, like the other symbols strewn about the site.
