In one final burst though, I split off from the others & ran up the side of the house to the street. I looked back to see what the reaction would be (especially Leo's), but as I did, the back porch light was turned on, freezing everyone in their tracks. A voice said "go to bed!" & everyone quickly headed back to the tent. I was stranded there in the front of the house & I ended up crawling under the stairs & laying down on the gravel & dogshit, where I would peer up at the sky & watch Expo's twinkling lights.
